MCP client
Give Codex a real data workspace through DataUnmess MCP.
Codex can call DataUnmess tools to inspect sources, build dashboard cards, create pipelines, and save durable artifacts instead of returning one-off analysis in chat.
Setup
Use the guided MCP setup
Create a DataUnmess MCP key, choose Codex in the client setup screen, paste the prompt into Codex, update the local config with your key, then restart and test the connection.
Prompts
Good first prompts for Codex
Ask Codex to create a dashboard from a connected source, clean a file into a reusable dataset, or seed DataUnmess Memory with company context and KPI definitions.
- Create a sales dashboard from my data with KPIs, trends, breakdowns, funnel, table, and insights.
- Clean this source into a reusable monthly revenue dataset, then build a dashboard from it.
- Review my saved dashboards and suggest improvements by business value.
What Codex can build
Move from repository and business context to durable data artifacts
Codex is effective when the task crosses code, source structure, and a saved business artifact. It can inspect the tools and resources exposed by DataUnmess MCP, query an authorized dataset or connection, then create dashboard cards or a transformation flow with replay metadata.
A saved dashboard is not a screenshot of the conversation. Source-backed cards keep the dataset or connection query needed to run again when the dashboard opens. Pipelines keep their steps, destination, and run history so a later Codex task can inspect and improve the same workflow.
Use DataUnmess Memory for definitions that should survive beyond one task, such as KPI formulas, business terminology, table meaning, and known data-quality constraints.
- Build source-backed KPI, trend, breakdown, funnel, and detail cards.
- Create and validate reusable data-cleaning pipelines.
- Review lineage from source fields to dataset columns and dashboard cards.
- Reuse approved business definitions across future Codex tasks.
